Color My World

Openers:

Snowflake Stretch/Snowballs

I Ain't Gonna Paint No More! (Beaumont) 2-5
In this favorite crowd pleasing book with a surprise ending, Beaumont and Carrow take black and white line sketches to new colorful heights when a naughty young boy gets into some paints. Explore colors, body parts, and a bit of colorful craziness, set to music, if you please.
(I pass out dry paintbrushes so kids can join along in the fun.)

(Pass out wash cloths...)
Song:  This is the Way We Take a Bath (tune: Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush)

Seven Blind Mice (Young) 3-5
This is a book with what I like to think of as layers. It's simple text, colors, characters, and theme invite children to relate to it on many levels while it relates the wisedom that the whole is greater than the parts.  A lovely book.
Finger Play: Here is a Little Mouse
Game:  Blindfold Game
(Blindfold a child. Have him/her feel an object and try to guess what it is.)

Mouse Paint (Walsh) 2-5
A favorite of many, many children, Ellen Stoll Walsh's mice are adorable explorers.  While up to their ankles in colorful puddles, these mice accidentally discover the secondary color family and help children explore color mixing.  But will they manage to avoid the cat?
Finger Play:  Balloons
Song:  If You're Wearing Red (tune: If You're Happy and You Know It)
Felt Board:  Balloons
Closer: Wave Goodbye
